November 24th Color Calendar: Basho Color

November 24th Color Calendar
Basho color
"Before winter arrives, the southern wind blows by."
Basho color is a pale green with a slight yellowish tint, like young banana leaves.
As the name suggests, the color comes from the color of the Basho leaves. Basho is a banana-like plant that grows in warm regions such as Okinawa and Kyushu, and has long been used as a fiber.
November 24th marks the beginning of winter. The cold winds begin to blow and the air begins to dry, but the color of Basho suddenly evokes memories of the south during this season.
It was a day when a gentle breeze seemed to mix with the cold air.
This color is not a winter color, but that is precisely why it remains in our minds as a "different warmth" in the midst of winter.
"The white space between seasons" and "the overlap of time" are important themes in WABISUKE's philosophy. Basho-iro is a poetic color of incongruity that appears at the boundary between seasons.
